K friends… let’s talk all about brows! A very common question I am asked when I share my favorite makeup products is what do I use for my brows and how do I use it? So today I am going to share with you some of my favorite brow products and how I use them! I will also go over pros and cons of each product!
Glossier Boy Brow $16
This product was one of my all time favorites when I used it! It gives you a very natural brow look. It is like a brow pomade on a wand (think mascara for brows). The wand and spoolie is much smaller than a mascara wand so it works better for brows. It is a colored brow gel. It will fill in your brows, shape them and hold them in place all in one swoop! This product works great and the only reason I didn’t repurchase it was because of the price. I wanted to find a similar product for less.
This product only comes in a couple of colors. It comes in a clear gel, blonde, brown and black. The tube itself is fairly small but I was actually surprised at how long it lasted! Mine lasted about 3 months!
I do, however, have a link where you can get 10% off any Glossier product! I love their mascara called Lash Slick and their lipsticks!
Colour Pop Brow Boss Gel $6.50
This was the brow gel I found that is very similar to Glossier Boy Brow for a fraction of the price! I have been using it for a while and have loved the results! It is also a brow pomade and has a few more colors to choose from. It comes in clear, blonde, light brown, dark brown and soft black.
This product like the boy brow will fill in your brow in a very natural way. It will not give you a very defined brow look. I use it to make my brows appear more full and tinted. It goes on very easily and quickly! Think of it like you are combing your brows with a spoolie but the spoolie has a color gel already on it. I love how quick and easy it is but if you are someone who likes more of a defined brow or doesn’t have a lot of brow hair to work with this product might not be for you.
E.L.F Cosmetics Instant Lift Brow Pencil $2
This is by far the least expensive product but still works great so if you are looking for a new brow product to try without spending much at all try this one from E.L.F Cosmetics. This is a brow pencil but the product itself is between a dry powder pencil and a pomade. It is a very soft almost pomade-like pencil and has a spoolie attached to the other end.
Because the pencil is so soft it doesn’t stay in a sharp point after the first use. The tip becomes more rounded and doesn’t create as tight of a line. When I use this product I like to just sweep across my brow in small hair like strokes following the shape of my brow. You could also use this pencil to draw more defined lines along the bottom and top of your brow and use it to fill the brow in.
This brow pencil comes in blonde, taupe, auburn, neutral brown, deep brown and black. You can shop elf cosmetics online and also find these products in Target.
Last but certainly not least!
Maskcara Hotline Brush + Contour $22/$14
Maskcara just released their new Hotline Brush! This is one of my favorite brushes from Maskcara because it is perfect for brows! Yes it is a bit more to spend on the brush itself but it will last you much longer than any of the previously mentioned products. If you take good care of your brush it should last you years!
This brush has a very defined angled tip on one side and a spoolie on the other side. This makes it great for brows to either draw small hair like strokes or to draw very defined lines to shape your brow. It also works great to draw on eyeliner along your lash line.
There are a few different ways you can use this brush.
You can use the angled edge to define and fill in your brow. If you like more of a pomade feel and look you can use one of Maskcara’s cream contour colors. This individual contour color is $14 and will last 6+ months if using it exclusively for your brows. Plus, it fits neatly in your Maskcara compact so it doesn’t take up any extra space or give you one more item to have to keep track of. Another way you can use this brush is just to dip the spoolie lightly in your contour color and use it to fill in your brow. This creates a very quick and natural brow! I have been using this method the most lately and love how easy it it! I really love the look of a full, natural brow and this is my favorite method to achieve this look. The spoolie on the Hotline Brush is a bit larger than the boy brow so it is even quicker and in my opinion more natural. One problem I sometimes had with the boy brow was if I used too much product my brow would have a “wet” look to it and the pomade would flatten my brow making the look very caked on.
You can even use an eyeshadow color with this brush if you like more of a powder look. I used to use this brush and my Oak eyeshadow to fill in my brows. I used this method a lot because it creates a very natural look. It does take a bit more effort to line your brows and fill them in but it will give you great results!
